Forest Road Park Closure Press Release

November 14, 2024

Forest Road Park Closure

The Township has received confirmation through an independent Geology and Geo-physical study, that there is a substantial fracture in the bedrock within the stormwater basin at Forest Road Park. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is also in the process of putting a report together, which we hope to have in early 2025.

We are diligently exploring options to safely reopen the park to restore public use. At this time, we are unable to confirm when or if it will be reopened. We anticipate that we will be able to share more information on the status of the park in coming months and appreciate the community’s patience as we work to appropriately resolve this unusual situation. We want to make it clear to residents that we are committed to maintaining this park as open space and hope to come up with a solution that will be in the Township’s best interest while maintaining the safety of our residents and their beloved pets who frequent this park.

We respectfully request that our community members do not enter the park until we can secure the area of the fractured bedrock. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to those who are eager for the Park to be restored, and continue to invite you all to enjoy our other parks within the Township.
